Sat 21st Sep 2019: RHYTHMIE WONG, piano

Rhythmie Wong Since starting piano lessons age three in Hong Kong to achieving her Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory, Rhythmie has wowed the piano world by winning numerous awards including 1st Prize in the New York International Artist Piano Competition, at the 71st Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition and at the Miami International Piano Festival Piano Academy in 2015.

Rhythmie performs throughout the world and her poetry and virtuosity sent shimmers of admiration through the Sussex International Piano Competition last May. Her recital will include Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, La Valse and other well loved classical composers' works.

Sat 19th Oct 2019: Alexandra Lomeiko, violin (with piano accompanist)

Alexandra Lomeiko Alexandra Lomeiko moved from New Zealand to London to study at the Purcell School of Music in 2006. A laureate of numerous international competitions, Alex won the Kenneth Loveland Gift Award (UK 2018), and most recently, was awarded the prestigious Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artists Award by the Making Music Foundation, UK (2018).

As a chamber musician, Alex is the 1st violinist of Ensemble Mirage, and has led orchestras under conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski and Bernard Haitink. Alex has also worked with notable artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Ivry Gitlis, the Endellion and Belcea Quartets. On Saturday 19th October she will perform works by Bach, Faure, Szymanowski and Ravel.

Sat 16th Nov 2019: Andrey Lebedev (guitar) & Iosif Purits (accordion)

Andrey Lebedev Born in Moscow and raised in Australia, Andrey Lebedev is one of the most successful guitarists of his generation. At the Royal Academy, he worked with Julian Bream and John Williams on presenting solo recitals. Since then he has appeared at many international festivals and venues.

He is sponsored tonight by Making Music and will perform a varied selection of European and South American pieces.

Please note the change of venue - this concert will take place at Haywards Heath Methodist Church Hall, Perrymount Road.

Sat 15th Feb 2020: Jonathan Radford (saxophone)

Jonathan Radford Praised for his "exceptional musicianship and emotive playing", saxophonist Jonathan Radford is the 2018 Royal Overseas League Music Competition Gold Medallist and first prize winner. He is a Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist with Making Music (PDGYA) and a Park Lane Group Young Artist.

He appears under the auspices of the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. Jonathan has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Grieg Hall in Bergen, the Centre Pompodou and Philharmonic in Paris. His programme includes works by Debussy, Schumann and Gershwin arranged for alto, tenor and soprano saxophones.

Sat 21st March 2020: Caroline Tyler (piano)

Caroline Tyler Caroline Tyler (piano) with Sarah Dubost (cello) and Andrew Thurgood (violin). Award-winning concert pianist Caroline Tyler has performed as a soloist and ensemble member at many prestigious venues in England and abroad to critical acclaim.

A local musician, Caroline was a prize-winning postgraduate student at the Guildhall School of Music. She teaches as well as performs and gives annual masterclasses in Istanbul. Her programme will include Chopin's Polonaise-Fantasie Op.61, Ravel's Jeux d'eau and trios by Rachmaninov and Shostakovich.

Please note this concert and the NYJO concert will take place at our usual venue, St Wilfrid's Church, Haywards Heath.

Sat 25th April 2020: National Youth Jazz Orchestra Ambassadors

National Youth Jazz Orchestra Ambassadors We welcome the return of the NYJO, the UK's premier young professional jazz orchestra, led by Artistic Director and trumpeter Mark Armstrong.

Their 'Legends of Jazz' programme will feature tunes by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thelonius Monk, Juan Tizol, Pat Metheny and other cutting edge artists. An evening not to be missed!
